I visited Fiji while living in New Zealand on a Working Holiday visa, and wow, what a trip!
I traveled in June—escaping the New Zealand winter—and these islands in the Pacific gave me exactly what I needed: sunshine, friendly locals, a laid-back vibe, nature, and plenty of laughs. It felt like I’d stepped through a portal into a world where technology hasn’t taken over our lives yet.
You can explore Fiji however you like: go for a resort-style vacation or get lost in the local villages. My advice? Get on a boat and visit the islands—any of them. Try the kava (even if it tastes like dirty water), learn the Bula dance, and go diving if that’s your thing.
Fiji is all about disconnecting, relaxing, and indulging. Enjoy it!
Island hopping, surfing, beach clubs, mud baths, jungle treks…
