Hola! I’m Mar,
If you're also hooked on that feeling of freedom that comes from traveling the world and living amazing experiences, I'm sure we'll get along.
I hope you enjoy this space, find the info you're looking for, and most importantly, get inspired to start the adventure of a lifetime!
I’m thrilled to have you here!
I always knew I wanted to live life my own way.
While studying architecture, I promised myself that I’d go on a “big trip” after graduating. Originally, I planned to go to Southeast Asia, but thanks to a mix of luck and good decisions, I ended up in Australia in February 2020.
There, what was meant to be a 3-month trip, became the beginning of my new life.
There’s no going back. The world is astoundingly big, and opportunities are endless. That’s what I want to show by sharing my adventures—that travel isn’t a one-size-fits-all, that spending time living in another country is easier and more accessible than it seems, and that it’s perfectly okay to press pause on your “career path” to travel the world.
You write your own rules.
And mine right now can be summed up in one word: freedom.
Travel experiences that helped shape Amanecer por Ahí:
🌸 I traveled to Peru with the Ruta Quetzal program when I was 15, and that trip ignited my passion for traveling.
🌸 I had met people from all over the world and had friends scattered across Spain, so I learned early on how to move around on my own to other cities. I even started organizing events with some of these friends, gathering up to 100 people every year.
🌸 I worked in the kitchen of a summer camp while studying, in a remote spot in the Pyrenees. That's where my love for the mountains solidified, and I learned that some people only worked a few months a year, which is how I discovered seasonal work!
🌸 Although I had no clue what I wanted to study, I started uni knowing one thing for sure: I was doing an Erasmus. I did my last year of Architecture in Antwerp (Belgium), where I worked for the Flanders Tourism Office managing the “Antwerp” section of the Erasmus en Flandes blog. It was a job I absolutely adored.
🌸 I decided to go to Australia for 3 months after finishing my degree, a destination I saw as safe and “easy” for my first solo trip.
🌸 I arrived in Australia with Welcome to Travel in February 2020, and if I hadn’t met the people on that tour, I might not have stayed when the pandemic hit.
The rest is history!
I lived in Australia for almost three years, traveled around Southeast Asia, did a Working Holiday in New Zealand, and finally started Amanecer por Ahí (a project that had been in my mind for years).
Now, I help future adventurers do the same:
If you need a little push to start traveling solo.
If you want to do a Working Holiday in Australia or New Zealand but don’t know where to begin.
If you need help planning a trip to one of the places I know best.
This is the place!
